The announcement was made during today’s Nintendo showcase alongside a new trailer featuring Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team flying through recreated versions of Corneria, Sector Y, and several iconic battles from the Nintendo 64 classic.
This marks the second remake of Star Fox 64, following the release of Star Fox 64 3D on Nintendo 3DS. However, this new version appears to be a much larger overhaul built specifically for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
Nintendo says the remake keeps the original arcade-style gameplay fans remember while introducing updated visuals, improved controls, enhanced cinematics, and additional content not included in previous versions. The trailer also hinted at new multiplayer features, though more details will be revealed later this summer.
Star Fox 64 Remake launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25, 2026.
According to Nintendo, the game will cost $59.99 USD for the physical version and $49.99 USD for the digital version as part of Nintendo’s new pricing policy for select Nintendo Switch 2 titles.
Final Thoughts
Even though Star Fox 64 Remake looks great so far, I think I’d still be more excited to see Nintendo remake classics like Super Mario 64 or even Super Mario World. Those games would probably hit even harder for me personally. Still, it’s great to see Nintendo bringing back another classic franchise for a new generation.
